Designed for the versatility of wearing multiple different ways, The Lapse Ring is hand carved from wax with groove details that look different from every angle. Cast in solid sterling silver that feels substantial. Comes polished with a smooth mirror finish and gets better with gradual wear; the way we think jewelry is meant to be worn. Not preciously, but often.
Object Notes
The Lapse Ring started with an entry from a personal memory written in a notebook that read:
"We decided to give this big 2kg jar of green mandarin citrus syrup a try. We learned that it goes well paired with a tall glass of ice topped with sparkling water. I watched the ice melt, and asked it to dissolve just a little slower. The more absorbed I was; watching and observing it, it seemed to grow like a puddle and time appeared to move slower and slower."

Many pieces are handmade-to-order, please allow up to a 2-4 week window for production before it's shipped from your purchase date. Delivery times are always estimated and never guaranteed. If your package is lost or stolen we will do everything we can to assist you. Soft and Sticky's jewelry comes high polished with a mirror finish unless otherwise noted. All jewelry is made in solid recycled sterling silver (unless noted) and is meant to be worn often, not preciously. We think that sterling silver gets better with everyday, gradual wear and that scratches and natural patina that develops adds warmth and depth. Solid sterling silver jewelry can always be cared and restored with cleaning and polishing to look new again.
| Regular Wear |
Sterling silver can be considered relatively low maintenance, as with regular wear, the oils on your skin prevents tarnishing. It's generally been advised to remove your sterling silver jewelry before washing your hands and in the shower. Water itself is not harmful to sterling silver, however it is a suggested precaution as some soaps and other cleaning chemicals may dull the shine and lustre. You may dry your jewelry after its been in contact with water to remove residual moisture that could contribute to uneven tarnishing. Remove your jewelry for activities like swimming in salty/chlorine water and strong cleaning chemicals and perfumes. |

You may regularly clean your sterling silver jewelry to prevent tarnish buildup. There are two methods recommended: Cleaning with a homemade solution Try this gentle at home method that requires a few ingredients (Baking soda, aluminum foil, and hot boiled water). You may have to try this method several times depending on if the tarnish is stubborn. 1. Line a small dish or bowl with aluminum foil, then add in a generous amount of baking soda and hot boiled water. 2. Drop your jewelry in and allow it to soak a few minutes in the solution ensuring that every part is touching the aluminum foil. Each piece of jewelry should not touch each other. Flip your pieces after a few minutes and add more hot water and baking soda if cooled. This method will create a chemical reaction that helps ease the tarnish off. 3. Using a cloth or rag (not a paper towel) to clean gently. Cleaning with a 2-Part Polishing Cloth Use our 2-part reusable jewelry polishing cloth made to clean and polish sterling silver. One part of this cloth is made with super fine polishing compound that removes tarnish and oxidization, and one part brings shine back to jewelry. You may also find these available at other jewelry and general stores. |
